When you appoint Dr. Ulrich Trost as arbitrator or consultant in national and international arbitration proceedings, you benefit from sound expertise in commercial law, a strong commercial and technical understanding, and more than 30 years of experience. In addition, he has acted as (presiding) arbitrator and party counsel in more than 50 predominantly international proceedings.
As Chief Legal Officer of two internationally active industrial groups (SMS AG Holding and LURGI AG Holding), Dr. Trost was also responsible for more than one hundred commercial law proceedings worldwide and managed the cooperation with the numerous international law firms involved.
His work is defined by a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach and a clear understanding of the operational realities of industrial and commercial enterprises across a wide range of sectors. He possesses particularly deep technical expertise in international plant engineering. Building on this experience, he has trained approximately 1,500 commercial managers and project engineers, both in-house and through leading seminar providers, in international business law and project management.
A key advantage: Dr. Trost is independent and not part of a large law firm. As a result, there are no structural conflicts of interest of the kind that often go undisclosed. This is a decisive factor for an arbitrator, particularly in international proceedings, in which transparency and above all independence are becoming increasingly important.
The proceedings led or supported by Dr. Trost have been administered, among others, by the ICC (France), DIS (Germany), NAI (Netherlands), AAA (USA), SIAC (Singapore), and CIETAC (PR China), conducted under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, or handled as ad hoc arbitrations.
