Arbitrator and consultant in international arbitration proceedings and international commercial law,
in particular in national and international plant engineering and construction
Dr. Ulrich Trost is an independent arbitrator, expert and consultant in national and international arbitration proceedings. His focus is international commercial law, in particular plant engineering and construction.
He has more than 30 years of experience and has been involved in over 50 arbitration proceedings in many countries as presiding arbitrator, arbitrator or party representative, among others under the ICC, DIS, AAA, UNCITRAL and CIETAC rules, in particular ICC- and DIS- arbitrations in plant construction and engineering. As former Chief Legal Officer of two international plant engineering groups, he was responsible for more than one hundred proceedings worldwide.
As he is not affiliated with a large law firm, he is free from structural conflicts of interest. In view of increasing law firm mergers, law firm cooperations and worldwide interlinked mandates, conflicts of interest are becoming more frequent, and they are not always identified or disclosed in time. Dr. Ulrich Trost is available without such restrictions.
In suitable international proceedings, Dr. Ulrich Trost accompanies the proceedings in the background at the request of a party. He does not appear externally; his unbiased and unvarnished 2nd Opinions cover the prospects of the case and the quality of both sides' submissions, including on legal, technical and commercial issues. The second opinions are received exclusively by the client and, if so instructed, its legal department, confidentially and throughout the proceedings.
